Busines is in the gene 'pool' of the White family

James White is a third generation pool builder, following in his grandfather's and father's footsteps creating award-winning pools. He recently received the bronze award from the Association of Pool and Spa for a pool he designed and built in Monroe.
"Winning is a pretty big deal because of it being nationally," Whites said. "Every pool is governed by the APSP."
But White's passions isn't really about the award as much as it is about the individual designs he makes for his customers. That passion started in the 1950s with his grandfather and father.
"They took pools to the next level," White said. "They would get called from all over."
White was on pool sites when he was a baby and has no plan on leaving them now.
Even though his shop is located in Loganville, they serve the Atlanta metro area as well.
"In 2007 we were making 70 pools a year and now we are making about 45," White said. "The trend now is more higher-end design pools."
Some of White's designs feature waterfalls, slides and tiki huts, but White said the designs vary based on what the customer wants and can afford.
"I go in to meet a couple and design to fit to their needs and take what I've learned in the years of custom design," White said. "I collaborate with the idea and with the budget."
This isn't the first time White has been recognized by the APSP. In 2007 he was awarded the silver and bronze medal for another pool design. White said he would have more but he doesn't focus on sending in pictures-instead he focuses on his customers.
White's business now has fourth generation in the making, with one daughter working as the general manager of the store and another in charge of advertising.
"I grew up in this and there is nothing else I'd rather do," White said.
